The Energy Justice Alliance is working for a just transition in New York State - this means closing dirty fossil gas plants and instead focusing on energy justice. This means new, clean infrastructure that will provide family sustaining jobs, equitable investments, healthy air, clean energy and a seat at the table for our communities.
New York's climate laws provide a roadmap for a just transition. We demand that the state follow the law and:

Close the New York City's dirty fossil fuel peaker plants, including those required by law to close by 2030.

Manage an orderly and just gas transition that shuts down fossil fuel plants and infrastructure to reach 70% renewable energy by 2030 and 100% zero-emission electricity by 2040.
The science is clear: the only way we can prevent catastrophic climate change and repair the damage pollution is doing to frontline communities is to SAY NO TO FOSSIL GAS.
